5.) Temporal lobe areas
Side of the head, behind the ears,
We are on our temporal lobe. Clink! Clink! Cheers!
What and why? Let us try! Please don't sigh.
We have areas 20, 21 and 22 which are our inferior, middle and superior temporal gyri (jai/rai).
Victory to the people! Ain't this a rhyming word like Nicolai?
The side of the brain is an astonishing creation,
Areas 20, 21 and 22 process sound and social communication.
A vital accessory,
These areas also process language, and semantic memory.
A point that is true,
A sky perceived as the color blue,
Wernicke's area is found in area twenty-two.
From remembering a price label on a bowl,
To recognizing a face on a scroll,
Welcome to area 38, our temporal pole.
A surprising composition with no superstition,
It is linked to high-level visual memory, emotion and face recognition.
A part of one's set,
A gradual hearing, and it makes more sense,
Areas 41 and 42, the primary auditory cortex.
With the sound of mechanical engineering,
Areas 41 and 42 become our first cortical relay for hearing.
Are we in the clearing?
With neuro sounds cheering,
An echo of peace is adhering,
As life is stirring.
Engage your brain! You just oiled the lobe that is gearing.
