7.) Neuron (Nerve cell)

Fundamental units of the nervous system,

Main structural components, and it's firing right now, giving you wisdom.

The anatomy with bright lights,

Receiving signals from other neurons; this is called dendrites.

With no spookiness,

The cell body (soma) contains the cell nucleus.

Chromosomes of the neuron cell,

This is the nucleus, and genetic material would tell.

Electrical impulses along the neuron cell,

The axon turns into a conduit, and action potentials are outputs to the bell.

Insulation of the axon to protect the neuron cell, myelin sheath allows for speedy transmission, and now we have a bombshell.

It transmits electrical and chemical signals to other neuron cells,

The axon terminal-aye aye, captain! We now have actions that sell.

Certain granular bodies in the cell body,

Nissl's granules; stay away from the hot toddy.

The production of the insulation,

Schwann cell and this is the developer of the myelin station.

Node or Ranvier, the diffusion of ions,

And there's no relation to any prions.

Three types of ways,

Multipolar, unipolar and bipolar, such different looking trays!

Brainy stuff, he wraps,

The junction between two neurons is what we call a synapse.

A ring to the bell,

A whirl deep in the well,

A poem to link the signals to a carousel-

Here is your neuron, known as the "nerve cell".
