Through the Neurocognitive Fog

Minds once sharp, now slowly sway,

Memories drift, then fade away.

Thoughts that danced now stumble, stall,

Simple tasks feel vast, like walls.

Attention falters, focus strains,

Language slips through fragile chains.

Recognition dims, faces unclear,

Moments repeat, time disappears.

Yet within the fog, the heart still gleams,

A flicker of joy, of hopes, of dreams.

With care, with patience, and gentle hands,

We guide, we nurture, we help them stand.

Every mind, though changed, still knows,

The depth of love, the warmth that shows.

DSM-5 gives a map, a frame,

To honor the person, not just the name.
