Microscopic Mites

Sleepy story,
Night-night jolly,

0.3mm long with no folly,
This is the act of the creepy-crawly.

Eyelashes, eyebrows and pores.
They were even found on the dinosaurs.

Your face is their mating harness;
These arachnids are truly harmless.

They munch on dead skin cells and oils from your sebaceous glands.

They crawl in & out with eight legs and move around without any hands.

Assistant beauties, 90% of humans have these invisible roomies.

Consideration to our microbiome,
Meet Demodex folliculorum,

Rhyme to the top of your dome,
They are on your forehead while you are asleep at home.

1.5 to 2.5 million of them are on us right now,

Powwow! They are holier than thou. Oh, wow!

They are our daily acquaintances;
The Demodex have no anuses.

Junk released on our skin after their death,
No harm done, as our immune system handles it with each and every breath.

They come out and flourish in all of the nights,

They are sexually active when there are no lights,

They go back into your skin pores and lay eggs without any fights,

They are the cousins of spiders & ticks and they are known as "microscopic mites".
