1. The Nation's Tongue: South Africa

They speak with power, but not with ease,

Words get tangled: meanings freeze.

Sentences wobble, grammar bends,
Oh, how the political leaders pretend, dear friends.

English trips them, slips away,
Yet speeches march on every day.

Promises lofty, phrases tall,
But comprehension? Not at all.

We listen, smile, try not to sigh,
As politicians fumble, words awry.

Oh politicians of South Africa, hear the plea:

Speak with sense, and let us see!
